Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a process in which an individual works one on one with a trained therapist to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories or experiences, identify aspects of their life they’d like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work towards their desired change. Individual therapy can help with many different issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, feeling overwhelmed, low self-esteem, and relationship issues. To be seen and heard with kindness and compassion is deeply healing and allows the opportunity for new experiences to emerge and change, and transformation is then possible.
Trauma Therapy
It is natural to experience aftereffects following a shocking, upsetting, or dangerous event. These events may be experienced either first hand or observed, and are typically physically or psychologically disstressful. Reactions may be mild and easily worked through, or intensely unpleasant and life-altering. Posttraumatic stress is a common reaction to traumatic or stressful events. PTSD takes many forms and may arise immediately after the experience or sometimes years later as in the case of accumulated stress. People may or may not experience PTSD after trauma, but they may experience responses to trauma that are not diagnostically categorized as PTSD. Typical mental health issues seen in conjunction with PTSD include depression, substance abuse issues, anxiety, grief, and suicidal ideation. However, the majority of people with PTSD who receive treatment are able to recover. Among the therapeutic modalities that have been used successfully to treat PTSD are Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR.)
COUPLES THERAPy
Couples therapy is a type of psychotherapy in which a therapist with clinical experience working with couples, helps two people involved in a romantic relationship gain insight into their relationship, resolve conflict and improve relationship satisfaction. The therapist assists the couple in identifying the issue that will be the focus of treatment and establishing treatment goals. The therapist will not only help the couple gain insight into their relationship dynamics, but also support the couple in changing behaviors and how they interact with each other.
